EUGENE — Sea Lion Caves was among this year’s winners of the 2012 Eugene, Cascades and Coast Visitor Industry Awards. Travel Lane County honored local businesses, organizations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the local visitor industry at its annual awards ceremony. The event was held June 12 at the University of Oregon’s Ford Alumni Center.
Sea Lion Caves was awarded the 2012 Eugene, Cascades and Coast Enrichment Award. This famous Oregon coast attraction was recognized for welcoming and serving thousands of annual visitors over the past 80 years. Acknowledgement was given to Sea Lion Caves’ ongoing commitment to provide a safe haven for the protection of sea lions, while giving visitors from around the world access to viewing the animals upclose. President and Co-owner Steve Saubert and General Manager Boomer Wright were praised for their efforts to preserve and enhance the caves.
And, unsurprisingly, it is also a place that many of natures creatures call “home”...
The caves are a wild place, and the animals that live there are “nothing short of wild” too...
